Putting Green Driving Range Mats

We have just finished a new state-of-the-art driving range mat product. We have gone from
concept to product in two short months. Golf courses and driving ranges don't have to have
synthetic putting greens but they do have to have driving range mats. There are
competitors that sell hundreds of mats a day. Someone is buying them. We are now able to
produce a product that is so much more than what is currently offered in the market at the
same price. We will educate you by discuss products currently offered in the marketplace,
our product and the advantages of our product.

Ninety percent of mats currently offered in the marketplace are a nylon product. This
product has been made the same for the past several years. It consists of a 1/2"
layer of nylon turf with a 1/2" to 3/4" layer of foam backing. This product
wholesales to the driving ranges and golf course for between $200.00 and $240.00. There
are other products offered that are cheaper knockoffs of the nylon turf mat that are of
poor quality and workmanship and don't last for more than several months of use before
they start to fall apart.

Problems with the nylon turf product:
Bonding - The nylon turf sets on
top of a 1/2" to 3/4" foam rubber backing. This type of foam is called
"closed cell". This means that water will not penetrate the foam. This also
means that glue will not penetrate the foam. So the only place where adhesive can grip the
foam is the thin top layer. The mats are put together by a coding machine that joins the
foam and nylon turf together.
Delamination - Also there is a
chemical in the foam that is counter reactive to the adhesive that will not allow for a
good bonding of the turf and foam rubber backing. We have talked with a person that used
to work for one such mat company that now sell adhesives and he said that there is nothing
consistent with the mat. They have always had a problem with the mats delaminating or
coming apart where the turf and the foam meet.
Melt Marks - The nylon fiber is
not very tolerant of heat and friction. Golfers have consistently had problems with melt
marks or stain marks on the bottom of their clubs. This problem occurs when the bottom of
the club strikes the mat at high speeds - when driving. This friction causes the nylon
fiber to melt onto the bottom of the club. Then the golfer must scrape or sand off the
marked areas. The marked area, if not removed, create drag or slows the club down when
driving on the fairway at a golf course.
No Warrantee - Companies selling
the nylon mats offer little or no warrantee with their driving mat product because of the
bonding/delamination problem. The mats may last for 6 to 8 months without delamination or
they may delaminate after 3 months of use. This is a major problem for the driving range
owner from a cost and quality standpoint. The owner looses money every time he has to
prematurely replace a mat and the customers that drive off of the mats don't want to play
on a worn and torn product. It's just like a green at a golf course. If the greens are in
bad shape, golfer will go someplace else.
Other Products Offered - Besides
the driving mats, other products offered are "sand-filled synthetic grass T line
areas" These T line areas pose several problems to the golfer and driving range
owner. When the golfer's club strikes the sand filled turf the sand will fly up into the
golfer's eyes. The driving range is worried they may be sued by a golfer because of this.
Also, sand must be continually added to T line area. Another problem is that the T line
area is a sand-filled product and will scratch the bottom of the clubs. This is a problem
for the golfer because he/she has paid up to $500.00 each for these clubs. Also the T line
turf will leave melt marks on the bottom of the clubs. The golfer then has to sand off or
scrap off the melt marks off of the club.

We have spent months searching and researching for the best components to produce a
superior mat. There are many advantages to our driving mats.

Two Sided Mat - We are offering a 4' x
5', two-sided mat that means that there is turf on both sides of the mat. When the driving
range wears out one side of the mat they will flip it over and have a brand new mat to
use.
Construction of the Mat - Once the
polypropylene fiber is tufted to a 1/2" height, we use two type of industrial
adhesives to join the two mats together. The adhesive that we use is applied by hand, not
machine, to insure complete coverage and bonding. The first layer of adhesive grips the
fiber and holds it in place. The second layer of adhesive is spread on 1/4" inch
thick to create a superior bond to hold the two mats together. Also, we have added a layer
of air in the middle of the adhesive that acts like a cushion, reducing stress and
absorbing club shock. We use 3 gallons of adhesive per mat to ensure an exceptional bond
and provide a premium product.
No Melt Marks - The fiber that we use is
a polypropylene. It is a stiff fiber that will prolong the life of the mat. Also, this
fiber will not melt or leave melt marks on the bottom of clubs.
